Yikes! Is this common with our 4.0's?
How much will it cost to fix the timing chain?

Its about $1200 in labor just to get to timing chain. Thats how much a dealer wanted to "check base timing". They have to remove everything on front of engine to do that to see how timing chain & sprockets line up. All you need is the parts to fix & another 2 hrs on top of that prob.

If you can wrench yourself you may be able to get it torn down to that point to save some $$$ & have some one else to rest?

timing chain kit $193+

i currently have everything off so now just to bring it to them and let them make $ and let them get me back on the road for summer. Hopefully mildly priced, ill save myself a nice bit of money since the valve covers and everything on front of the engine is off right? because the problem is right in front of their eyes.
