Default Mustang X-Pipe sounds better?

My brothers birthday is coming up and I bought him a ( Emissions gay!) catted Bassani X-pipe for his 96 GT. He wants his car to sound better and I figured this would help and give him a little boost because we all know how slow these 94-98 GT's can be. Well I forgot that he doesnt even have aftermarket exhaust yet. The X-pipe and cats will hook up to the factory exhaust fine but will it sound any better? I find it hard that it wont sound any better but im out of cash buying him his present so I cant afford to buy new exhaust. Should I tell him to go buy some MAC's or Flows or whatever because its still going to sound bad or will it sound good with the x pipe and the factory mufflers?

I've heard an o/r x with stock mufflers and you could def tell the difference, but with just the two cats you should get an increase in sound just not as much as an o/r pipe

I had just an o/r x-pipe on my car when I first bought it and it sounded nice. It will probably be a little louder than stock but have a nice growl to it.

It will make a difference, but it will really wake up the car if you got an aftermarket exhaust. I'm biased so don't ask me which one, listen to sound clips and decide for yourself because everyone seems to think the exhaust they bought is the best exhaust. (Myself included)
