are you serious code? if so i have mine out and boo hoo on that idea. why would a screen cause your car to idle funky, too much air flow?

i have been driving with mine out for about 8 months now and no problems at all, i took it out when i put my fipk on. Try taking your maf out and spraying the heater elements with some brake cleaner to clean them up, might help. it helped with a ruff idle on my car.

No problem on my '04, I clean my MAF's once a year with electrical contact cleaner, they will accumulate oil from a hi-flow filter such as a K&N. This is a cost of doing business with performance air filters. When installing an aftermarket CAI always be sure not to over-tighten the MAF to the pipe, this distorts the plastic housing causing the problem you describe. And when re-oiling your filter, allow it to sit overnight and let excess oil run off befor you install. Hope this helps,
John
