Default thud going into 1st gear?

hey guys, for the past week i've been getting a thud from the tranny whenever i put it in first after coming to a stop sometime. it doesn't grind or anything, but the first time it happened i almost flipped because i thought someone bumped me from behind. please tell my trans isn't crapping out already [&o]

It's possible... mine makes a thud between pretty much every gear except 4th to 5th... Then again the last owner beat my poor stang up before I got it, all four tires were almost totally bald at only 7500 miles. The thud from mine is quite audible outside the vehicle to a car that would be behind me, so my friends have told me anyway... I'm considering possibly a broken transmission mount, I have no other explaination for mine.

I'd say just be mindful of it, and if it gets worse, you may be in the same situation I am.

i think the first owner used to beat my car too, the rear pads were almost worn to the metal. a broken mount was my first guess but then again it only does it when going into 1st gear

I've noticed a lot of small things, like major brake work... there's small clips on the studs holding the rotors on, supposed to be one per stud, I had two on the whole vehicle (both on the front driver's side)... I cut them off regardless... but who knows what kind of stuff the last owners put our poor stangs through. [:'(]

The clunk to first is probably the most noticable because of the gear ratio... like I said for mine, it will clunk loud enough to hear for all gears except 5th. I haven't noticed if mine has been getting worse over time, but I've been paying attention to it for the past 5 months, which has only been 2000 miles.
