Default exhaust questions

currently, i have a pro-chamber mid pipe with 40 series Flowmasters that are dumped. when my rpms are below 2500 the drone is horrendus. I know once I get tailpipes put on it will help a little, but it will still be there. If I were to go with an X-pipe instead, would that help get rid of some of the drone? if so, anybody wanna trade?

nah buddy it's the flowmasters. They are great mufflers for cruising and old muscle cars.... I have the stock H pipe with flows and it drones like you describe.

From what I understand magnaflow are better for no drone... and also if you want even more loudness glasspack style are better (like loud mouth)

Add 10-12 horspower and a great exhaust note to your 99-04 GT with this top-quality Steeda stainless steel exhaust kit. This kit produces a deep, rich exhaust note but is tuned not to "drone" at highway speeds. The kit features a factory fit, and includes installation clamps, front flow tubes, Steeda logo embossed high-flow mufflers and rear tail pipes with polished tips - the perfect bolt on for your GT. The polished stainless steel exhaust tips are 3.5 inches in diameter and 9 inches long. The tips feature the Steeda logo etched on them and are polished to a near-mirror finish.

It's called destructive interference. By changing the shape/material/support points, you can get it to resonate with or against the sound waves. If it's with, they add together (constructive), if it's against, they subtract from one another (destructive). Destructive interference is how noise canceling headphones work.
