What rpm

What rpm
If what i heard was correct, carbon build up is from running at too low of rpm's while cruising (correct me if i'm wrong). So if i'm going from point a to b and i need to cruise at the same speed for more than a few minutes, what's the lowest rpm i should go to prevent carbon build up?

RE: What rpm
Carbon build up can come from several sources. You can get a carbon-like build up on the backs of the intake valves from driving too many short trips. You can get deposits in the combustion chamber from the same thing, but if you are getting excessive carbon you must be running very rich.Read the spark plugs to get an idea of whats going on in the engine.
A more fun way to clean an engine internally is to go to an interstate highway and blast up some on ramps at high rpm.

yup. Occasionaly ripping isn't bad for the engine. My mom and i have a running joke, whoever is driving in whoevers car we just all of a sudden haul a$$. It's like "hey i'm just cleanin out the carbons"
I don't like to cruise under 1500 rpm. It seems to bog too much down there. So if you are going 35mph with stock rear end, fourth gear is a good cruise. just keep it around 1800-2000 rpm for a smooth cruise (in my opinion)
