Default Mysterious rattling noise

I have 98 GT with a rattle. I here it best when my car sits for awhile like overnite. Right after I start my engine I get this annoying rattle like a heat sheild is loose(it's not that already checked). I was told it might be my throw out bearing going bad, but everything shifts fine. Anyone else have this problem. Oh yea point of origin seems like it coming from middle of car. Could it possibly be my cats going bad? Thanks for the help.

Bill

i too have a 98 GT. When i bought it, there was no noise. I paid 8K, with 28K miles. Well after i beat on it, a noise also appeared. I got under it and knew right off what it was. So i pushed in the clutch and it went away. So i put a new throw out bearing in it. $18 part and im a FORD tech so i put it in myself. easy fix, also installed new clutch while i was in there. So to tell for sure push the clutch in, if it goes away, its the throwout bearing
