Default 285/40/17 on a 10.5 wheel?

Im sure I wont get many answers here but I was just wondering if anyone is running this size on their car. If so, how does it look on the wheel? I know 315/35/17 are a better choice. I just need to know a little more about this size tire. Thanks.

285 on a 10.5 inch wheel is going to look stretched and have a very thin sidewall. It's going to ride like you are rolling on a solid rubber tire.

I vote absolutely no.

I have 275/40/17 on my stock rear 98 gt wheels, and have no rubbing issues what so ever.

I'm using a 295/35-18 tire on a 18x10 wheel for the rear... no issues with rubbing... it's a perfect fit, no bulge, no stretch... go with 295 at LEAST for 10.5, a 305 would be better, and a 315 perfect.

I ran 275/40/17 on my 10.5's for about a week before my 315's arrived. They road and looked like crap.

Go with 315/35/17's if you have a 10.5 wheel. I will be ordering some black deep dish bullitts for the rear and mount them on 315's. Gonna look sexy.
