Default ok, im confused...

I have a 2000 GT convertible and i was changing the oil today and noticed a tag/sticker on the driver side cylinder head that said "P.I." and it also said "5.4 L" Does this mean i have the ford racing heads or what? Also, another question is that ive noticed my car is buring oil because everytime i change it it looks like alot less comming out than what i put in... I also have some suit in the tail pipes... How can i fix this?

idk about the heads but to make sure you really are burning oil, check the level with the dipstick every time you fill up at the gas station. most people have some soot/carbon buildup on the tailpipes. carbon is a byproduct of combustion so it will be there.

I may be wrong on this, I am just using some deductive reasoning but here we go....

I know the 4.6 and 5.4 are both modular motors, and they both use the same heads, so I am guessing that when Ford switched in 99 to the P.I. heads, cams, and intake they used a design for the 5.4L modular motor. You would know if you had a 5.4, they do not look like the intake on the 4.6. This is just a guess so someone please correct me if I am wrong. I know the Patriot Heads (I have heard they are crap) are just 5.4 heads that are ported and polished. But you do have a P.I. GT, everyone does that has a 99+.

P.I. stads for "Performance Improved". Ford realized the 215 HP 4.6L of 96-98 (98 actuall had 225 HP) were lacking some power so they mad improvements to the heads, cams, and intake. This is the reaon the 99+ GT's have 45 more HP.

00 GTs have an 8 bolt main and a winsor block. Other than that, I don't think anything is special.

I do believe that the patriot heads are 4.6L heads out of 4.6 trucks, not 5.4Ls.

I do not think you can swap 5.4 heads onto a car with a 4.6L intake manifold, but I could be wrong.

I know when I was looking for a beefier Intake Manifold that the ones that I wanted you had to have PI heads.. I have a 1996.. Now.. Would that mean the 99+ newer edge models when getting a new Intake Manifold would not to have PI Heads or changes made to their heads? I thought that for the mustang gts if you wanted a bigger Intake Manifold you would have to change the Heads... Am I wrong? explain please?
