couple questions about a sitting car...
Ok well we bought the mustang with the intent to drive it daily, but we have put way to many miles on it in the short time weve had it. So we bought another car to use as the DD and we are going to keep the mustang as our "weekend" vehicle. My first question is should I use a certain type of oil, or would any oil be ok for a vehicle that may sit days or weeks without being driven?
And my second question is this: I started the car today (it had been sitting for about 3 days) and the car stumbled and it took a while for the car to get to a normal idle and then the car started smoking, and there was a slight ticking sounded like a valve ticking, but it seemed to be coming from under the vehicle after the idle went back to normal the ticking went away and so did the smoke. I didnt know it was smoking so I couldnt get a straight answer on what color it was, but they said it was grey I kept asking if it was black (fuel) blueish white (oil), or just kinda clear..... The car drove fine the rest of the day and I didnt seem to be throwing any codes, so Im kinda stumped.
On one occasion the car started and then died immediatley and I haven't clean the IAC yet, but that was several months before the above mentioned incident. Could the IAC be the culprit?
Thanks
Robert

RE: couple questions about a sitting car...
I plan on cleaning the IAC and changing the oil and filter after we get back from vacation next week. I just wanted to check here for some advice. Ive never had a car that sat for such a long time before, and I was just curious if there were precautions I should take, Most importantly the Oil.
