Default Traction Control...on or off?

I was at a speed shop a few days ago and the subject of ring and pinion gears came up. You know, 3.73s and the like. Well anyway I had those installed on my car and one of the mechanics there said that that should have really made an improvement in excelleration and should have made my wheels spin. I told him that unless I pop the clutch my wheels don't spin. He then asked if I had my traction control turned off. I told him probably not. He asked if I had a switch on my front panel to turn it off and I said no (and I don't). Anyway he told me that by turning the traction control off that it would helpe my acceleration. Is this true? If I do turn it off what are some of the disadvantages of doing that?

loss of tred....but if ur wanting to spin the tires or accelerate fast...traction control should be off....it takes fuel from the engine to stop the wheels from spinning....therefore the rpm's go down until u let off the gas and the wheels get traction again...traction control off=FUN

... from my understanding it uses the the brakes to slow the wheels down. using wheel speed sensors to make sure each wheel is going same rate... i could be wrong though.

actually it cuts spark... if you cut fuel you risk running stupidly lean

+1

But I thought that all mustangs had traction control?

I wish I had had my tuner turn off my T/C in the computer, its a PITA.
