IAC causing idle probs?
alright, here's the deal:
2000 Saleen S281, new all-forged shortblock, ported heads, 42lb injectors, 80mm maf, 12psi intercooled procharger, headers, o/r H pipe, borla catback..
car idles weird. kinda high, 1000rpm. tolerable, but high. if you tap the gas and rev it to around 2200rpm, it takes a full 9 seconds to come back to idle. it'll drop to about 1500rpm after 3-5 seconds, and then a few seconds later to 1000. if i'm driving, and hit the clutch, the RPMs try to stay where they are, and take a while to drop. from 55ish, if i hit the clutch and come to a casual stop, it will still be at 1500rpm when i'm stopped, and a few seconds later, it'll drop to 1000.
i've heard that adjusting the TPS is useless in new cars, but i adjusted it anyways just in case, to around .982 volts. pulled the IAC off, the TB side was a little dirty, cleaned it out, and moved the shaft back and forth a little. i noticed looking in the TB side that the end of the shaft doesnt go all the way closed, there's about 1/16th of an inch left. is that normal? after putting the IAC back on, it really didn't change much. where it takes 9 seconds to drop down to idle now, it took about 10-12 before.
if while the car is warm and idling, i unplug the IAC, the car dies. if i leave it unplugged and try to start it, it'll start and immediately die.
i've searched this forum as well as a few others, and have yet to find a straight solution to my problem, so i thought i'd ask. any ideas?

the high idle isn't really my complaint. its how long it takes to drop to idle that i can't stand. and if you just barely tap the gas, it shoots right up to 1500-1600 and sits there for 7 or 8 seconds. it makes it impossible to rev the engine (well not impossible, but it sounds stupid).
i don't have a tuner right now...everything that's been done has been done professionally. but i think a PMS system may be in my near future, since there are a few things i'd like to be able to adjust right now.. including putting a rev limiter back on
it's got a really strong forged short block, but i still dont like being able to go so high if i jump on it too hard in 1st
