Just using this Escort passport timer for a baseline for future mods. Could read apples as far as I am concerned as long as it is consistant. Maybe my car really ran a best of a 16.5 and not a 14.5. After I get the converter repaired, loosened a bit and shift kit added I would hope to have the timer read "less apples". Last time I was at a track was '79. Not racing for points or anything but would like to know if the mods I may do are positive. The thing about OD being on or off really surprised us since the car gets through the 1/4 at 4100+rpm's in 3rd gear. Seems the tranny acts differently when the OD is turned off. Also left the traction control on and have read the car may go quicker with that turned off, any copmments on that, experienced?
Off topic but am confused on wheels as I like the cobra R's but it seems they are reproductions and I don't know what compoany is considered to have the best quality, any help? I like the 10.5/9's with 315's and 275's which I read will fit but very tightly up front. Do these copmpanies have the correct offsets for these sizes to fit? Thanks guys and I will give the results of the tranny work.
One thing that is frustrating is it sems most bolt ons like CAI, TB/plenums, tuners , exhausts have not been tested by the guys who use them and others say these mods are a waste for the expense. All I want is a 13.5 1/4 even on the junk "timer", Thanks guys, Mark

I used to have a 97' Taurus SHO (V8) that was automatic. My friend had a stock automatic 01' Mustang GT. We raced about an eighth mile from a stop while both were in drive. He got me by a few car lengths. We did the same race again except I manually shifted and he beat me, but by less than a car. Changing the gears yourself can make a lot of difference, you just have to see when the best place to shift is.
