ahhh...got it.

Does anyone know what I can expect for MPG?

I drive mostly rural areas. My commute is 13 miles with only 2 stop signs and 3 stop lights.

That's not too bad.

I'm guessing if the vehicle is in good running condition, I should be able to get around 20mpg, hopefully...

mind you 13-17 is usually stop and go, and I do get on it a lot. I get more than that if I am gentle and cruise, and don't hit all the red lights too. I run the a/c sometimes too

it's all how you drive it

Thanks guys!

I know the 96 is the 'slow' Stang. But it's a project, so, I can have fun with it. If the motor is tight, and since it doesn't have that many miles, I probably could swap out the heads, add a cam, an aluminum intake, larger TB, exhaust and a few other toys, and I'd be happy.

Thanks again, and I'll let everyone know how it turns out!

BTW-What's 'pi'?
PI is short for power improved. By the time you change the heads, headers, cams and intake (if you pay someone to do it) it will be just about the same as swapping motor and adding that stuff in since the motor is already out. Then you have a new car.

sn95s rock, go for 5 grand, itll be a steal. so what about the no-pi, if its too big of a problem a pi motor swap wouldnt cost more than 2500$ parts+ labor to have someone put it in, or about a grand for a slightly used pi motor and doit yourself. id jump on it if its clean and in good running order. check it out thoroughly though, only thing you should really look out for it the intake manifold. just check to make sure its got an aluminum corssover upfront. my 96 has had no problems, knock on wood, i did a motor swap but it ran like a top with 110k miles before that.
Dude I dunno about a pi motor installed for 2500. It cost new about 2k plus labor another 2k. (unless you do it yourself or go to a shotty speed shop) I just did it. Besides, he could find a car with way more miles that is alot cheaper and would actually be worth putting a new motor in. Right now I guess you could swap that motor and try to sell the old one but no one really buys that motor and it has really low miles.
like i said, slightly used 99+ 4.6s arent expensive at all. i got my saleen motor+saleen blower for 2500, sold the blower for 2300. just gotta look around at junkyards or ebay. 1500$ for labor is almost dead on though, depends where you go but the actual swap only takes around 10 hours, and its an exact swap only thing needed is to relocate the coil packs and alternator other than that everything swaps over.

to me its pointless to spend all that money on heads when your motor has 65k + miles on it, youd be better off getting a low mileage pi motor, and save yourself some trouble. most sn95 owners just do a pi intake, cams and then run nos.

Plus timing cover and maybe flywheel, depends on romeo or windsor.
