There should be a gear-sticky-post. Anyway, if you're worried about freeway driving then maybe even 3.73's may be too much for you. I do alot of freeway driving and roaring along at 3K for hours on end isn't my idea of fun.

Give the gear calculator on this forum a shot to see where your setup will end up running at...

ORIGINAL: 99gtstangThanks what kind of RPM range will you be at with 373 410 or 430 around 75-85..... now i am around 2300
I have a '99 automatic and am getting 4.10's put in next week. Currently I run 33 MPH/1000rpm's in OD. With the 4.10's I will be around 26.3 MPH/1000pm's so I will go from 2300 at 75 to about 2800-2850rpm's at 75mph. I can live with that as I don't spend hours each day at those speeds. 3.73's are about 29mph/1000rpm's, almost 2600 at 75mph.
It all comes down to what you can live with for mileage and revs at cruise speeds. If I drop my speed to 70mph I will drop to around 2650rpm's. That's OK with me. It's tough to get my convertible's 3300+lbs. going very quick with 281 NA cubic inches and automatic! I am hoping the exhaust, tuner and CAI all combine to keep the mileage close to what it is now. Anyone done a before and after with 4.10's? I am talking et's. I am thinking between 1 and 3 tenths better depending on supporting mods. Better mods, better reductions. mark

4.10s. if you get 3.73s you'll think even that's too much gear at first, then later you'll be wishing you went with 4.10s. trust me.... i listened to the whole "highway driving get 3.73s OMFG!!!11!1" from this forum. i'm just at 2000rpm at 65mph. 75 i'm at maybe 2200 or so. don't make the same mistake i did. i also have a blower and a stick.

Well, it's not that you wouldn't be able to attain higher speeds like that SRT-4, it would just take alot longer. Well, I guess the SRT-4 or whatever would own you then. Top speed is important also...

Why would you be held to 111MPH? Are you saying a stick car with 4.10's will max 5th at 111MPH? Can't be! How is the guy with the 3.73's turning 2500 or so at 75MPH, he could then hit 150mph at 5000rpm's! Please explain? I got my Motive gears and Predator tuner today. I cannot understand these predator instructions for anything!
Anyways my gears are going in next tuesday and even though I have an automatic which probably has a different amount of reduction in OD than a stick I think I will be fine, 2850 @ 75mph. Double the 2850 and get 5700 so I could if the motor made enough power hit 150MPH also. I need to go search for some simple directions for this predator! mark

4.10s you'll top out at about 110 in 4th... not sure if you'll be racing much faster then that.
