The intake isn't really worth the money unless you need piece of mind from large blasts of nitrous. A guy on another forum bought it and put it on his blown gt and did before and after dyno testing and gained 0 hp!!!

On a side note why does everyone on this forum keep saying you need a forged shortblock for every mod? St 2 heads....you need forged internals, st 2 cams...same thing. Its just not true! I know guys who shift at 6500rpms with stock internals and get by just fine. Also NA Cobras spin to 8000rpms and only have a forged crank but regular pistons and rods.

Only the 03/04 Supercharged Cobra has different rods! the 96-01 Cobra has the same rods as a GT...and my neighbor shifts his 98 Cobra at 8k all the time....150,000 miles later and still going strong.

wow, I am suprized that nobody has mentioned the horible castings that they produce, and that the Typhoon is a hater intake in the 5.0 world and in the carb world.

the intake will only help you by a couple od ponys!!..i have a 10,000 motor with all the internals and my motor spins at 7800 rpm!!! so i went with the p51 but the stock intake stops makeing power at 5300 rpm on the dyno!! i learned that the hard way!! hop that helps

The stock intake does not stop making power at 5300 RPM. In fact, the stock intake is acutally a pretty good piece. I have seen several cars in the 550-600 WHP range with the stock heads/intake on supercharged setups (blower cams/forged assembly).

The problem with the PI cars is not the intake manifold, it is the flow numbers of the heads and the small amount of displacement. This is why it is hard to make big numbers on a 2v n/a car with any of the stock equipment.

On a mild setup like a bolton only car, the intake is not the restriction, so changing it out is not going to give you great results.

Droptop: The reason that everyone recommends going with a new rotating assembly with the parts you mentioned is because on the stock shortblock you will have a hard time getting the most out of the parts. Even 6500 RPM is not enough to get all of the power out of a stage 2 heads/cam package. You don't need anything forged to run the parts, but to get the most out of them you do.

I put in stage 2 cams (along with full boltons) instead of stage 1s, and my stock rotating assembly (combined with a crappy tune) made for very disapointing results. The car was making 30 more WHP at 6000 RPM, but I was unwilling to push it any farther, and the stock heads were starting to tap out around 6K anyway. The bad part was the car didn't make any more power with the stage 2s until about 5500 RPM, where a stage one cam would start picking up power much eariler in the band. Some of this could have been fixed with a better tune, but it would still be the case.

I didn't have any problems with them when I orderded a few small things, but I have heard so many bad things about them that I don't think I would order anything else.

Yes they just recently came out with it. I talked to a sales rep of theirs at the World Ford Challenge in St Louis earlier this year.

Victor Jr. 4.6L SOHC EFI manifold only Part #28385 or with manifold and fuel rail kit part #28386

www.edelbrock.com or 1-310-781-2222

Geeze, I sound like a damn rep for them, lol.
