had to raise the gas pedal's position roughly an inch

There was a recall/tsb for that on the 99-00 models. Don't knwo about the 01 and up though. What happens(Happened) was the throttle was getting stuck on the hoods mat (or what ever it's called)

Check under your hood right where it comes down over the throttle linkage and look for sign of rubbing. Trim the mat so it doesn't happen again.
