I need help, does anyone on this forum know if the VIN number indicates if you have the Deluxe Package or the Premium Package? Does the VIN number tell you if you have ABS or NOT? Is there a sure way of knowing whcih package you have? Or better yet, how can I tell if this Mustang has ABS or not. My insurance guy said it did not, and he could tell because of the VIN number, but all the VIN number decoders I find do not have a space in the 17 digits for i.d.ing if it has or not ABS. Am I missing something?

have a look see at the front wheels... there will be an extra wire going to a small sensor which will indicate you have abs

I have no idea if the vin says that. Usually the vin says the plant it was made at, date of production, engine... body style


a simple way would be take the vin to the dealer and have them run it. THey should do that free

Most vehicles I know of, if you hit the brakes somewhat hard and it's a soft brake with minimal effort stopping AND an ABS light comes on in the dash guages, then you have it. I have a service van I drive and when you hit the brakes in water or snow, it'll make a funny *** noise and show ABS on the guages.

spray some water down and nail the brakes, if the pedal pusles then u have abs if not then ur screwed!
