Default Changing the thermostat

I did a search and came up with no results for "thermostat" so i decided to start a thread. For those of you who have changed tstats to a colder opening temp, did you notice any difference? how does it affect the car performance wise? just wondering if it would be a wise idea to do

a guy i work with put a colder one in his fox body... but he also removed the air silencer, turned up the timing and put in a K&N filter and said all that made a huge difference

yea i figured since i was running the predator tune with max spark adv that it would probably run alot hotter, especially in these summer months...does it affect gas mileage?

ok just read somewhere else that if you have a 180 stat and you dont adjust your fan settings its not going to do anything at all, anyone know what to set them at?

I have a 180 thermostat and I adjusted my low temp fan to come on at 180 degrees with my tuner. I am not sure if that helped or not.

I switched from the 195 degree stock one to a 180 degree stat and did not notice hardly any difference. I felt a SMALL amount of change but that may have just been from trying to notice a change. I plan on tuning my car for some stuff I just bought so I will try to incorporate the tune to include this 'mod.' Hopefully it will help some.

i took that thing out (it was close on high reving, **** up the original intake manifold..got a new one with aluminum coolant crossover but still hated that thing). it runs 180 F with no a/c on hot weather (south texas hot), and 190/200 F with a/c on. it seems to run much cooler now...i wont install a new one..i like it the way it runs
