You gain 80lbs back!! The cobra aluminum block weights 80lbs less... But sorry to burst your bubble, that 01 cobra short block does come with a forged 8 bolt crank which is good for about 1500hp. The block is good to about 600hp but the rods and pistons are the same peices offered in the GT's.. So the the rods and the pistons are powdered metal which means there good to about 400-450hp. So looks like your back at the limit of a GT. But you save 80lbs. They say 100lbs. is worth 1/10 of a second in the quarter.

Well the 03-04 withought any modifications, can take more than 1000hp. Thats safe horsepower. I have been researching everything about the 4.6... I am going to build a motor and make close to 1000hp. I am not full of sh*t it will take a while like 2 or more years but it will happen. I want to get an alluminum block to save weight up front. The 96-98 cobra and 93-98 lincoln mark viii has an aluminum block that can handle 1500hp. So thats a good starting block. Then you put what ever rotating assembly you want in it.
