i dont know what i will get for insurance on it yet but they said its a total loss and wil make an offer on wednesday
what about that resonator looking thing above the passengers side valve cover? will i get sound or power if i remove that and plug the hole?

Yikes! I get 20-21 regularly in my Mach. You can range your throttle a little bit, it doesn't always have to be wide open.
I drive sanely. Not grandmotherly and not 16-year-old-just-got-a-crotch-rocket fast.
If you keep those rpms below 3000, and obey speed limits, you should see close to what I'm getting. Of course, I've got 10-15 miles of highway driving twice a day and I don't see much traffic.

Also, try replacing your fluids, changing the fuel filter, and running some fuel system cleaner through it. There's no telling what, if any, type of maintenance schedule was kept on that stang. Also, talk to the dealer (if you got it from a dealer) to see what type of work they did on the car when it came in.
