Use the heatshield that comes with the system, and you're set.
People will go back and forth between rai/cai, such as the cai has more bends, which isn't good for metering the air, but the rai is inside the engine bay, which is supposed to mean hotter air.. But with the heatshield, you're ok.

DOes the heat shield fit properly. I thought I heard some where that it didnt fit properly. If its fits fine, then i might just go for the RAI. I read somewhere that it made the same gains as the CAI. I mean its not like I'm gonna get that much out of a rai/cai. I dont think it really matters which one I get.

I did a write up that should be in the stickies somewhere. I had trouble getting the screw hole to line up when installing the heatshield but I was able to fiddle with it and get it in. It was the second most difficult part of the install (coupler was #1) but it was well worth it. At least until I bought the ProCharger anyway.

I chose the JLT RAI over the CAI because I encounter a lot of water here in the Midwest and I don't want to suck any up. I've also heard horror stories of damaged filters in fenderwells that weren't discovered right away. I don't want to be sucking in any debris either when I tear up the filter and don't know it.

I use the JLT and it works unlike the BBK I tried. Fitment is tight but mine fit fine. Just remember to angle the coupler for the MAF and filter towads the front of the car. I had mine too much straight down and had to change it as the filter would have hit the inner fender. I registered a .15 increase and .9MPH on a passport timer, same road and similar conditions. This unit really works. A good buy. mark
Whats wrong with the BBK, My car came with a BBK CAI. So i couldnt tell if it works or not. And I took the filter out and cleaned it, I noticed some of that metal stuff and the cotton element is kinda bent, should I replace my filter?
