Question about installing headers???
I Have a 2004 mustang gt and was wondering this... I have never really messed with installing much on a car with all this emissions *hit and was wondering if i am getting myself into something i shouldnt be by trying to install bbk full length headers. I have a pretty good idea of what i'm doing but i just dont want to *uck anything up if you know what i mean. any feedback would be very much appreciated. I would also like to know how much time i'm looking at to get this mod done. Thanks a ton.

RE: Question about installing headers???
I had to give up and take my 04 to the dealer to have headers installed.I went in person to every shop in town to beg them to take my case but no one would. So I called the Ford dealer, they said that they would be happy to do a set of headers because they were slow right then and had nothing to do.
I had the car towed to the shop and six hours and $620 later they had installed a set of Bassani mid-length headers and catted X-pipe.Three techs worked on the project for six hours so the price wasn't out of line. They were still putting the car back together after removing the K-member and hoisting the engine up a few inches. They did a great job as there have been no leaks and everything clears everything else under the hood.
Now money is a important to me as it is to anybody else but after trying to do the job in my driveway and setting myself on fire with a cuttin' torch,I gave up and let someone with a lift and ALL the proper tools do the work.

RE: Question about installing headers???
The instructions that came with it seem easy i mean not easy but not super hard it doesnt say anything about taking out the k-member. I dont really care if it takes like a week or whatever i have another car I just dont want to pay the money to have it done. Let me know if these istructions are a bunch of bullsh**???? Thanks.

RE: Question about installing headers???
I am an experienced mechanic, and I did shorties on my car, No lie, they are a bitch to install yourself. Dropping the K member and supporting the engine is probably the only way I would do LT's, it's just that there is so little room to manuever tools in and tighten things.
