I need to change my fuel filter and was thinking about using the fuel cut off swtich. Is it bad to run the motor out of gas because of the fuel injectors or anything?

when i changed my fuel filter, i used the fuel cut off switch....thats how it says to do it in my haynes manual

Ya its really hard on ur fuel pump.
