RE: I sorta messed up the stang...
I would definately look into getting aftermarket pieces to fix your car. A set of black bucket clear cornered headlights, fiberglass fenders, different style bumper cover, and possibly a hood if needed. It will look better and probably cheaper too!
I bought my car with a Stalker hood and front bumper on it because the previous owner got in a minor accident. I love the kit and want to finish it with the sideskirts, wing, and rear bumper cover now.

I don't know about where you live but here in NC you don't have to have tu put air bags in a car that is more than 5 years old. I don't know where you guys are getting these air bags but you're getting ripped off. I bought both air bags and the module for $500 shipped off ebay and they are in perfect shape.
Edit: Federal law? Well maybe in NC they don't enforce that because my family has repared numerous cars that are older than 5 years old with just the fake air bag inserts. Either way you stil want them in for safety reasons.

When I wrecked my 2000 GT the airbags alone were $5,700. Bumper was around $500. The only thing wrong with a mustang is how sensitive the airbag sensors on the front bumpers are. I was only going between 10 the 15 mph when they popped out. So dont feel bad. The only thing that is bad is having a screwed up car.

Maybe I should reclarify. I was speaking from an insurance standpoint, and there is no "ebay option" for airbags. Although I have not seen a complete stang workup recently I do reacall a similar year vehicle where the bags were about $1700 for the pair (pass side about 1k alone), another 700 for the module, 100 bucks a sensor, this is before labor rates, just parts and that isn't going to be everything, just the big stuff.
As for my personal opinion, I will buy a great many things from ebay, but the piece of equipment designed to safe my life....not me. Call it fear due to my occupation, but 2K is a small price to pay to keep my face on my head.

It sounds like you are avoiding the insurance company. If so, 99% of body shops will write you an estimate for free. Best way to at least start your considerations (may be able to find deals, change out bodyparts, etc, but thats a starting point)
If you are going thru the ins co, they should be doing a write up for you...giving you the choice on what to do from there.

I just hit a tow truck going like 2mph..in a '96 mustang gt convertible. The body work and realignment of the frame and new paint was aboout $3000, and the airbags which I have yet to replace b/c they are $1800 for purchase and installation....
