Default Something I've been Wondering

Well I know and I think everybody else does too, that when I talk about racing, I usuallly talk about how many lengths we put on the other car. I am just wondering on how many tenths of a second a lenth might be? Maybe like an approximate?

Idk man i raced this camaro one time (at the strip) and in the he had pulled about 4 lengths or so on me and i thought it wouldnt be that bad but i looked at the time and he was like 10 somthing and i was 13 something. Thats happened a few times. Just a few lengths can mean seconds.

Yea thats what I thought. I watch some races where one car ran like a 13.6 and the other ran a 13.3 and the winning car only had about a half a car or less on him.

Yeah plus you cant really say exactly about what length is a second. Because if we're going 10 mph a car length is going to be like 6 or 7 seconds but if we're both going 115 then its gonna just be a tenth or two

you probably left before he did, otherwise that doesn't make any sense at all. 3 seconds is football fields @ 100mph.

100mph is roughly 150 feet per second. ~15 feet per tenth @100mph
