Default More efficient auto tranny

Ive heard evreywhere that manuals are more efficient and lose less hp due to parasitic loss. Manuals can switch clutches and driveshafts and stuff like that to make their tranny more efficient and get more power to the ground. Now beside things that will help me launch better, is there anything that can be done to get back some of my hp that the auto tranny steals??

Yeah and a shift kit or a tuner that sharpens the shifts.

+1

plus a tranny cooler..a couple of race trips..shifting around 5k kinda heats up the tranny/fluid to make sure it last longer and get good performance install a tranny cooler..they r cheap and easy to install..make sure u still use the internal one from the radiator..cause that keeps the tranny oil at the costant temp with the coolant temp..

I don't know if I agree w/ this statement... When I did my install, I used the external cooler, and it works great. I don't think it's necessary to maintain the Radiator's internal Tranny cooler afterwards, since it's now becoming a restriction in the system, along w/ the fact that it really doesn't cool much of anything... It's cross section is TINY compared to that of most aftermarket coolers..

But, to answer the original question, a Smaller diameter T/Cer, along w/ a better stall will decrease some of the parasitic loss, along w/ aluminum Driveshaft, and just lightening up your car...

Shift kits don't do anything for the parasitic loss, however they make the tranny shift faster than 99% of all 5-spd owners..

They don't specifically but you just swap the yolks over from your DS to the aluminum one and your good to go.

They dont actually reduce DRIVETRAIN loss, it still has the same amount of loss regardless. A shift kit sharpens shifts, and a torque convertor will slip until the desired stall. But the drivetrain loss WILL remain the same.
-P.
PS: Youre right manuals have less drivetrain loss because there are no planetary assemblies or pumps to turns.

So you will basically get the same benefit i assume...? That will improve acceleration correct?

How do you figure?? With less material on a smaller Torque converter, being less mass that needs to be spun = less effort by the engine = less loss.. This goes for both the aluminum D/S and smaller T/Cer... Maybe in terms of the actual trannies contribution to loss, sure, there won't be much change, but the drivetrain is more than just the tranny...

There will still be more loss due to the fact that manual trannies are just gears, while auto's have pumps, different gear sets, bands, clutch packs; all in all, more components..
