what year did they start to put pi heads in the mercury engines cause i work at a dealer and i am replacing a 99 mercury engine and if they have the pi heads iam gonna take them on and throw them on the stang and input would be nice

Wouldn't your work know that? But I think they got the PI head in 2001.

Just look at the ports....if they are square they are PI...if they are oval,teardrop shaped the are npi. I think they got pi later when the crown vics got it...in like 01 like was said above.
