Default RE: Tranny Swap?

I know WHAT consists and makes up a manual transmission....I was just asking if a swap was really possible.... My dad origionally had an automatic box on his 57 vette, and when he changed it out to a 4 speed manual, he had to rip out and change the whole center console and get some custom built parts. I know I'd hafta come up with a clutch pedal/brake pedal combo but I was wondering if a manual would physically fit in where the auto used to be....its the first automatic that I've owned so I dont know if the mustang was built universally to handle both trans or one or the other.....

Yes, the stangs were made to accept both trannies, so yes their universal. ANd really you cant put whatever engine/trans you want into whatever car you want if you have enough money.

This is do-able, and I'm not a nay sayer, but it will be less of a headache to just take all your mods off and swap for a manual tranny car. Yes you will have to pay in a trade, but you are not going save any money or headaches by having some one swap it out for you. If you have a donor car, go for it as everything is there, but if not, you may keep running into things you need, and then wish you hadn't tried to start the swap.
