Default Wheels / Traction Suggestions...

I'm considering numerous options for my Torch Red Mach 1, mainly to get better traction for launches and to minimize the long chirps into 2nd gear...

1) Get larger, new rims+tires (18x10) Black Saleens w/ wide tires out back
2) Get deep dish Mach 1 Wheels w/ wider tires
3) Get Drag Radials

The car is used for a daily driver--Spring, Summer, and Autumn--so I want something with relatively good tread life...what would you do?

18" wheels will only hurt traction.

In your case, a Nitto 555r on the stock rim. Going to a larger (and heavier) rim might help with traction but will slow you down due to more rotating weight. A set of drag radials can do wonders. I can't even take off at more than 1/3 throttle in my car with reglular street tires, the dr's make it so I can at least drive the car and not spin when I don't want to.

I think the stock Mach 1 wheels are really heavy to begin with, so even going to a 1 inch larger (18) rim, it would still weigh less than the stock I...I think
The only problem I'm having with drag radials...its a daily driver, so you figure around 12K miles per year, how long do they last? Around 15K miles?

the nitto 555r are shown to last that long on their website but it all depends on your driving habits i wouldnt think you would see that much more and bfg dr's are half that. The better the traction the quicker the wear.
