do you absolutely have to get a tuner when you get gears or can you get a shop to recalibrate the computer without a tuner? any input is appreciated.

You may be better off with a tuner IMO because you can do a lot of things with those. Regardless, make sure you get your spedo recalibrated ASAP. Mine isn't fixed yet, and I can still figure out how fast I'm going by RPMs but by switching to 4.10s from 3.27s added extra miles to my car that shouldn't be there yet. For example, it shows 44000 miles but reality is its much less than that.

Diablo Sport Tuner... best damn tool I have, lol.
Really though, we tuned it up after we installed the 4.10's and it is awsome.

the module to fix the speedometer is ~$100, might as well put that money twards a tuner (SCT).
