A) Shorties are smog legal
B) I don't/Can't/Won't pay someone $500 to install LT's

Sounds like some FR Ceramic shorties are in my fututre

I guess you don not have headers installed on your Stang....the mid-lengths really improve the mid to uppper torque output over the stock cast iron manifolds, smooths out the exhaust note, and the cermaic coating will keep the heat inside the tubes...combined with an 'X' pipe, you notice the power increase for sure.

Do the mid length headers bolt up to a regular size x pipe(one that would bolt up to the exhaust manifold) or would I need a different size x pipe than what I already have? I am saving up right now, and I was hoping to avoid buying a new x pipe since i already have the magnaflow one.

I'm wondering the same (although, I don;t know if they make mid-legnths for the 96-98's)

Who in the world would charge you $500 to install headers? I got my whole exhaust installed for $400. LOL Plus parts.
