Default rear gears

I actually own an 06 4.0 stick (can't afford the insurance on the GT)
and I'm helping my friend work on his '03 mach1
this is my first RWD car, and i plan on running 4.10s in my car, but i was wondering how high a gear you would recommend for the mach1, because I've seen all sorts of ratio choices
all we've done so far is an u/d pulley set, a jlt intake and an sct-2 reprogram
oh, and he's got an automatic, btw (i told him to spend the extra 5k to get the cobra with the stick, but some people are just stubborn).

4.10s, unless he plans for 100 percent sure to go FI.

Even then, with an automatic, I would still think 4.10s.

A 3.73 is a good all around gear for a DD. The higher the gear the better the take off if you can hook. I run a 4.30, I love the torque but it lowered my gas milage a good bit.

yeah, that's what i was thinking... do you have any recommendations for suspension upgrades (LCAs, UCAs, etc)? I can do almost all of the installs, but I'm not too familiar with the quality of the parts (I used to be one of those Ecotec kids, lol). We definitely need to upgrade that rear setup though, because we can barely get traction as is (i advanced the timing and dumped 93 with the SCT-2, changed the idle rpms and everything... i barely hit the gas and she squats and burns through 1st and most of 2nd)

If he is burning the tires off thru 1st and 2nd he needs better tires. Look into a drag radial like nitto etc.

If your going to go with 3.73s just skip it, the car already has 3.55s in it being a mach 1. There isn't enough difference between a 3.55 and 3.73 to justify the expense/pita.

This kid makes plenty of cash (supervisor on water/fire damage restoration jobs), so money isn't a problem (but he won't just bite the bullet and get a s/c kit yet).. he's paying me to do the work for him, and he said (not joking), when you're done with this car, i want it making 10mpg or less
I knew we'd need new tires, but i still think suspension is gonna be a problem too
