No it won't ruin a tune if you have a custom tune. Its just like unplugging your computer at your house. When putting mods on your car it is essentially the same thing of putting a faster DVD/CD-rom on your computer. The information is still there.
I would have explained it as ROM and RAM, but yours is better for less "techie" people haha.
yeah a tune is like a hdd always stores you data and doesnt delete info when you unhook it, but with ram ie the computer it will reset but cause no harm to the car

Default RE: Reset computer?

Disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes minimum will clear the KAM (adaptive, Keep Alive Memory), which is where the PCM stores all of it's "learned" settings--like short and long term fuel trin, idle settings, and the like.It will not reset anything set by a custom tune or handheld tuner. It's a good idea to clear the KAM whenever you mess with any of the intake components after the MAF. As for the original question, adding a MAC or any other intake will not cause any increase in airflow other than at or near WOT when the throttle plate/bore is no longer the greatest restriction in the system. It will make it easier for the engine to draw in air at WOT, which does mean more air, however it's far from any more than the MAF can meter on an n/a 4.6L engine. That's why aftermarket intakes don't make a whole lot more that 2-3 HP at WOT and higer revs...
