What about the thread colors? theyre a goldish or copperish look vs the replacement and originals that ive been looking atthat have the silver or aluminum look

ok gotcha, the bolt bosses...Not all of the intakes on the market are made by Ford. Many that you see on ebay or in some of the online parts places are made by Dorman and a few other companies...thats why you'll see slight differences in intakes.

also, a stock non-modified p.i. intake has only one tapped boss for a coolant temp sensor, whereas the non-p.i. has 2.

Also by just looking under the the non PI (96-98) 4.6 had plug wires (I think)where the PI (99-04) 4.6 had a coil on plug system.

how would that help distinguish which intake is on his car? even if its a PI intake he wouldn't have COP's unless he upgraded the whole system which isn't required.
