You are gonna get beat. Dontput 100 bucks on it. You guys underestimate the LT1 very badly. Andto all you guyswho have trashed on a LT1 when you GTwas stock, you outdrove them. No other explaination.

LT1>new edge reguardless of tranny.

LT1 > 2V 4.6 from a Roll regardless of the transmission combination

From a dig, it will come down to the driver mainly..

of course transmissions and condition of the car will have an impact on teh result, generally the driver has the biggest effect.. him with a stick and you with an auto, it's hard to tell if you think his car might not be making the power it should..

do it anyways, just dont bet any money.. good luck though, and def. let us know what happens..

ive been dyign to race my gf's brother in his '95 LT1 with flow's welded in, i think i should molest him with 4.10's, exhuast, and DR's
I ran and beat plenty of LT1 camaros with my car completely stock (K&N and weld in flows anyway). With the drivers mod you can get it done. I never went down once to a stock LT1

I recently raced a guy with a 96 Lt1 6spd a few times. All he had was weld-in flows. From a dig it was even all the way to 70-80 when we would let off. (in town). From a 30roll or sohe would pull abouta noseon me.

+1 on the gears and converter before you go off and bet $100 bucks on a race, and as far as what his roommate is saying, hes prolly getting 50 bucks off of the deal for talking you into it.... just another .02

My buddy has an LT-1 6-speed Trans Am. He has a TB, ram air, slp exhaust and tuner. Its a friggin drivers race from a dig but in the top end i seem to pull about a length on him each and every time thanks to overhead caming! lol Pushrod motors are dogs for air at 8500 feet in colorado at high rpms!!

Way back in the day when i was (almost but pretty much) stock i raced a dude with an auto LT-1 stock camaro. It was neck and neck all the way but if i launched it good i usually could take him by a hair.
