Default ?pro 5.0 vs. mgw

so i go into my local shop with every intent to order my mgw shifter, and the guy completely talks down mgw and says pro 5.0 is the only way to go...so i ordered the pro 5.0, but i'm starting to think as i re-read posts that mgw might be a better shifter. it seems like pro 5.0's might not be muchshoter throw thanthe stock, or am i wrong? everything about the mgw sounds great to me, but i only want the best quality product. i need to call tomorrow morning if i'm going to change my mind so lots of opinions would be great.

pro 5.0 is a good shifter, and if you keep it you will have a quality shifter. still not better then MGW.. You cant order a MGW anywhere except from MGW though - so going to your tuner may not have done anything... except give him some money, lol.. he probably has mark up on the pro 5.0...

mgwltd.com is the only place to get it.

Just call them back and get the MGW..

He probably talks down about MGW because he sells pro-5.0 and makes money from them.

I stand corrected. I was under the impression that they only sold direct now. Have you checked out the price on that website though too

MGW is the way to go on fox bodies. For 94 and up MGW is the only way to go. I have tried both and MGW is better all around.

Call back and get your MGW

I had a PRO 5.0 shifter on my T-5 trans in my fox body. It was nice deffinitly. But then I bought a MGW for my Tremec 3650 in my current mustang. Wow quality wise MGW is deffinitly better. One thing I love with the MGW is that you can swivel on shifter, so I have the handle of my shifter angled towards me, and with the shift **** still foward. Its so nice, the shifter is much closer than it was stock. Just for that fact alone I would chose that then any other. I do think the PRO 5.0 has a shorter throw, atleast from when I can remember... But then again thats two different transmissions. They used to sell a shorter shift handle that was blue from MGW but I guess there not selling it now... But I think that tuner just wanted your money because like the guy above said

after reading old posts, it seems like alot of the 5.0 guys use the pro 5.0and 4.6 guys use tri-ax and mgw...might just be a coincident or maybe they just react better to our cars, but i think i'm going to call tomorrow and get the mgw, but still keeping the pro 5.0 in mind...more opinions on the pro 5.0 side would be great

yep, someone i know has a pro 5.0 and it sucks in comparison to my MGW. I dont know if you have actually shifted one of these but i would guess no b/c as soon as you drive a car with one you want one.
