Default K & N Typhoon:: Personal Review

http://www.knfilters.com/typhoon/default.htm

These things are ****.
All though a slight notice in power gain the quality of these systems are junk.

Pros:
-Slight bolt on power gain.
-Cool look
-K & N cleanable Filter

Cons:
-Really cheesy pipe material for the air tube.
-Slight angel of flow pipe where mass air connect (Would be nice if a slight bend was at this point)
-Just doesnt seem to be a perfect fit at the mass air point of connecting. ( Bad design)
-Cheesy silicone rubber connectors for Mass air and Throttle body
-Tube diameter Larger would be nicer and flow more

If anyone is looking for a good cold air intake set up I would not recommend the K & N's.
They make a great filter set up but their air intake design does'nt seem of high quality.

I would recommend a C & L set up for the design factor and size for anyone looking to upgrade that area of the car.I spent 214.00 for this set up and if I could do it over I would go C & L.Or if I wanted to be a cheap skate getting one of those 40.00 jobbers off ebay and adding a K&N would be the same thing as buying the typhoon kit!!

Agree. JLT intakes are the best.

Thats the cheesy Import Intake they adapted to our cars...The K&N FIPK II is pretty decent and its plastic.

I like the plastic, since it doesn't heat soak quite as much as a cast aluminum, or thin walled stainless steel pipe..

In fact, a friend of mine has a 97 GT, that he used Home Depot PVC and homemade couplers, and hasn't had an issue w/ intake temps or flow #'s... Besides, it cost him under $25, and once painted, looks professional... I wish I had a picture..
