My father-in-law helped me do my stainless inserts. He has spent most of his life owning or working at an auto body shop. He didn't tell me what chemical he used (I suspect alcohol, or possibly paint thinner but I doubt it) to clean the area where the adhesive was to attach to the bumper. He said the reason was to make sure all the wax was removed so that the adhesive would stick. Before he retired, he had been painting for over 40 years, so I believed him and have had no problems.

Ya they are the stainless. So my moms dish soap wont leave an unwanted residue? And yes im OCD when it comes to something that would be very noticeable if messed up lol.

I used rubbing alcohol. It gets every bit of unwanted residue off.
