Default hood scoop questions

I've purchased an OEM hood scoop for my 2000 GT. Has anyone retrofitted such a scoop? I'm thinking of cutting an opening in the opening in the hood and making it a functional scoop. Any tips? Thanks.

Just take your time when drilling the holes. After I drilled the holes I removed the hood liner and cut out a section under the scoop.

I've heard about a dozen stories of the scoop ripping off after being made functional because it catches the wind....I still stay they are stories, but who knows

I give the scoop a tug/yank every once in a while just to be on the safe side

Other than a slight (small) extra cooling of the engine its not gonna do anything but cause more drag. It would be cool to have a functional scoupe.. but its doesn't really do anything,.

2000GT4.6, I want to add the scoop for looks but figure I might as well make an opening in the hood as long as I'm at it. You never know, it might help a tiny bit in hot weather.

There is no functionality to the scoops. Like 20004.6GT was saying, maybe some cool air in the engine compartment, but it's not really going to help you, plus the fact that you'll get loads of water in there when washing or when it's raining.
