Default spare tire

today i put my spare tire back in because i figured rainy season is starting soon so it need to go in......but when people take it out to go to the track does it really help your 1/4 time, because you get better traction while its in...i tested it today...before the tire i got about 1 1/2-2 seconds of chirp....after i got a quick 1/2 second chirp....in my auto.....anyone else with any input.....im gna test it out maybe friday night at the track!

Yeah, it really wont make a difference at all. Maybe like 0.001 sec at the track. The spare, assuming you dont have a full size spare back there (and realy even then) doesn't weigh THAT much. It's much more worth it to make sure you have something with you in the case that you MIGHT have a flat tire (knock on wood everyone).

Well Ive always heard that for every 100lbs you shave off, a .1sec off your ET.

I'd rather run a 14.2 than a 14.1 and be safe in case a tire goes flat. Doesn't seem logical to keep the spare tire out of the car all the time

You also have to take into consideration the extra weight over the rear axle ,,,may help in traction...I'd just leave it in....some at the track ,,just take it out there and put it back in as they leave...as the others stated,,if you picked up anything,,it wouldnt be much...suspension tuning and dropping the 60 foot e.t is key....

I've always heard that too. To bad the spare tire for a mustang only weighs 20 lbs.

I figure I race people on the street with my spare in so why not keep it in at the track. I race at the track so see how I hold up on the street. So I race with everything on or in the car that would be there if I was racing on the street

I'll be pulling out the spare tire/jack soon. No need for it since their is no way I'm going to jack up my car with that POS scissor jack. I used a scissor jack for my old Eclipse(weighed 500+ pounds less) and it didn't seem too safe. On top of that it took years to do. Well it doesn't matter to me since my dad has a tow truck so he'll come get it if anything happens

Every pound counts....goes on weight loss program[8D]
