Check if the syncronizer (spelling) is a little funny when you shift....the guy who sold me my 02 didn't know jack about stangs so we told him the sync was mest up and he dropped the price 700 bucks...you gotta do what you gotta do.
This may sound odd, but check for stone chips if he's in the country...if they are all over and no touch up...then maybe the guy didn't care what it looked as much on the outside...so maybe he didn't care what happened on the inside(motor).
