Default Midpipes?

Are they really necessary? I'm not all that convinced that they would really up the performance compaired to the stock set up.
Any opinions?

if you plan on moddig your car further than just a CAI, yes, it is worth it. by itself it won't do much (like 5RWHP), but paired with headers & catback, you'll see around 20RWHP or so from the whole exhaust.

Do it more for sound quality than performance at least for now. When you start to do more, it'll show it more then.

you'll feel a difference in the way your car drives with a midpipe change. won't be drastic, but you can tell by using your buttmeter

Midpipes though, the modification should be more for SOUND than for performance.

Performance wise stock < catted about = to o/r
Sound though is a HUGE difference stock < catted <<< o/r

I would go with the mac prochamber... the best sound i have heard so far. they say it adds 15hp but i don't think it's promising
