Default Plastic intakes

Ive been having a coolant leak for a little over a week now. I thought it was the intake gaskets untill i spent 3 hrs changing them only to have it still leaking. I didnt see any cracks on the intake at first, then i talked to a ford tech and he told me its prolly under the ft runner. I guess there was a recall but mines a 99 so iam outta date[:@]. Now its starting to have bad air flow when i press the pedal down. On the good side i have a new ford racing intake coming in today. Has anyone else had this issue? I would like to know. Thanks all.

Common problem, I had to replace mine about 3-4 months ago. Put a metal one on so don't have to worry about cracking anymore. They fixed the problem in either '01 or '03 I believe.

Nope, mine just went totally splat. About a 4 inch wide crack in the front, had to park the car for a week while I had to wait for it to get here.

Installation is a PITA, not so much difficult, rather easy, but time consuming. Took 3 hours to get the old one off and 2 hours to get the new one on.

I did the gaskets in 3 hrs and you have to pull the manifold off for that. It just takes alot of time. How did it take you 5 hrs?

Had to do a bit of modifying to the intake, find tools etc. That time includes heli-coilling the bolts that I stripped
