Noise question
Whenever I get back from driving the car longer than 30 minutes or so and i turn the wheel it starts making almost a howling noise coming from the back end. It doesnt happen when the car is stopped or when cold, just while in motion and its definately coming from the back end. Anyone have a clue as to what it could be?

RE: Noise question
lol.lol...I know what you mean (from the back end). Everything echoes and sounds where it isn't. Sounds like you should change you Power steering fluid. DO NOT flush. I do not believe in flushes. This will wash away and gunk that is actually lubrication it and make it fail. Just take out the plug on the steering shaft and put a drain bucket under neath it. Total time...2 hours including going out and buying 4 quarts of semi-synthetic fluid. I like valvoline. So easy a caveman could do it!.?????.lol

RE: Noise question
I may be wrong here but if the car makes the sound while its stopped then it would not be the power sterring.
But the sound you discribe I have heard of as in other casses being the clutches in the reaer end, the times I have heard of this is when there was to much friction modifier in the reaer end. have you check the rear end fluid lately?? any leaks???

RE: Noise question
I havent checked the rear end fluid lately but I also havent noticed any leaks. Sometimes when i engage the clutch during a turn i get kind of a rattling noise that i cant really tell where its coming from. Although... the howling is still present whether or not the clutch is engaged or not.

RE: Noise question
If it were the clutches in the rear end it would not matter if you had it in gear or not, you would pretty much only hear the sound while cornering, while one wheel is spinning faster than the other.

RE: Noise question
As I said before I could be wrong, but I would probably pull the back cover off the diff and inspect it first, low fliud would cuse the clutches to run dry, and look for any debris in the fluid, it might be very cheap to repair, depending on what is wrong
