when i think of it, all around in general there is much much more new edges than the original SN95, i mean look at this thread, 13 new edges posted against 3 SN95. I don't really like either one over the other when it comes to looks, i was gonna buy a new edge but i saw em everywhere and never really saw many SN95's. i never differentraite between v6/v8, it's still of same body style so...

You might look at a 96 Cobra. I know I saw several of them in that price range when I was looking for my 96 GT. However, I got this one for $3500 which made it sweeter than paying $7000 for a Cobra.

i thought about that, but i figured the insurance would be even more outrageous than the 99+gt
and insurance is one of the reasons why i decided to go with a 96-98 gt.
but thanks for the input cause any advice helps.

If you are going to do the pi swap i would go with the 96-98. I got my 96 gt with 89000 miles for 4500. He was asking 3500 but his wife made him go up to 4500. It is fully loaded with leather and the mach 460. Insurance will also be cheaper, and i think that they look better and you dont see them at every stop light.

what do you think about the high mileage that the 96-98 is going to have???
i plan on keeping this car for about 3 or 4 years, so i will probably put a good 35,000 more miles on it.
i was planning on not geting anything over 85,000 miles, but what do yall think???

one thing you wanna do with the PI swap, make sure you get 01 and up heads/intake, the 99/00 motors were windsor motors, rather than the romeo motors, the romeo motors were continued starting 01 so make sure you get 01 heads/intake because the 99/00 heads/intake will cause more problems to install. but yeah $1500 for PI stuff and labor id estimate.

I have Windsor heads I'm putting in. It's not more difficult than doing a Romeo swap. All that is different is 4 bolts for the timing cover, the cam gears are pressed on, and the valve cover have different bolts. It's still a straight foward swap... About the high mileage, these engines can go easily into 200,000 if taken care of. Try to find a 1 or 2 owner. And look for under 80,000. That'll be the best advice I can offer.

To find one with good miles you might have to look around a while. I got my 97 gt loaded, 59,000k milesand inperfect condition, but stock, for 5500. I got the car for the same reasons your looking for the 96-98. my insurance is like 1k a year, since im 17 i dont know how to drive...

Anyway good luck with finding a car.

From owning a 96 gt auto and now a 99 gt manual, the difference is night and day performance wise, looks are up to you, and as far as performance I say ask yourself what you plan to do with the car you could get a npi and do the swap and add full bolt ons to get what 300rwhp or you could save for a 99/00 and save for FI and bolt ons for more like 360-400 rwhp.
Over everything I would probally get a npi and do the pi engine swap and then go FI, because anyway you go you are looking at cars with around 80k miles and instead of putting new stuff on top of the 80k mile shortblock it seems better to me to put a 40k mile engine in because it would cost the same. Plus, I still miss my npi body style. lol

I agree about swapping a PI engine. But as far as buying a New Edge and saving for FI. You can buy a '96 GT for half the price of a New Edge and do a full bolt on PI motor and still spend less than buying a stock New Edge.
