That is not entirely true. Ford did produce a very limited number of Mineral Grey Cobras. I think it was less than 30.They were producing the'03 Cobras at the very end of the'02 model year run.

Here's some pics I have of Mineral Grey Stangs w/ 03/04 Cobra Rims. I know they aren't chrome, but hopefully this will help you get an idea:
