overdrive

Default overdrive

whats the difference if the overdrive is on or off. i heard it has to do with torque and at higher speeds it goes faster. any comments?

so is it the same power at lower rpms, thus making more power in a gear.

? turning it off just STOPS it from going into overdrive. Nothing more that I know of. Its gonna do the same thing. 1-2-3-OD. If its off, it will go 1-2-3.

As far as I can tell... whenthe overdrive is off it takes longer to shift to the next gear. Like in mine, were it usually would shift into 4th, itll stay in 3rd. As far as having more power, pry not, however, if you were doin a roll and then gunned it at 70 it would pry only shift down to 3rd, where as if you had the O/D off it would go to 2nd.Thats how it is in mine, couldnt tell ya about the other guys.

There is no difference in "power". OD is just another gear. 1-2-3-OD. It allows the engine to turn at lower revs when cruising down the higway.
