Default new shortblock = stock power?

recently my engine has been acting a little weird and i have about 5g's saved up because i was planning on a kenne bell for my 02GT.If i decide to buy a forged shortblock with that moneyso i can start with no miles instead of mine with 61k on it, if i put it in would it give the same hp as i have now just the ability to hold more? sorry it is so long but justaskin isa shortblock thesame as the stock justwith stronger internals ?

Yes just the ability to support more..ie..forged. You can raise power up a little bit with compression, but if you are going forged you most likely plan on a power adder and cannot use higher comp. on boosted applications! I would say you probably need closer to $7k for a forged block and blower! Then you can produce around 400rwhp+ no prob with 10-12psi
