Default A/F ratio question..

I am going to install a C&L trueflow pipe, C&L 80mm MAF housing, BBK 75mm TB/C&L plenum. Due to the difference in air intake of this setup vs. stock, do I have to worry about running lean? Do I have get a tuner to check my A/F ratio after install? It should be noted that my car is basically stock and these are my first engine mods. I am just worried about running my car too lean and messing up my engine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think you will be fine. That setup flows better than stock but I don't think it's enough to throw your a/f ratio off that much. FI is when you really need to worry about your a/f being perfect. Simple n/a intake mods that you're installing won't hurt it.

Yes, you do have to worry about the a/f being lean. It's very well documented that C&L MAFs are known to createlean conditions thatcan sometimes cause major problems.

Anytime you change a MAF you should get a tune...always.

Oh I didn't see the MAF part. Oh well, get it tuned anyway. You might see a few extra ponies too if they can raise your timing a little or do a few other things.

Can I tune it myself with a handheld tuner or should I get a custom tune from a SCT tuner?

Unless you want to sweep the streets I'd get a tuner to do it
